Glitter Graphics, Myspace Glitters, Myspace Graphics from Dollielove.com

It's 1:30 a.m. on Halloween morning. A day that we dress our kids up and let them trick-or-treat. A day that allows us to dress up and be kids ourselves. Dont have kids? You better hand out candy anyway! I've always heard that the houses that dont hand out candy are the ones that are more likely to get T.P.'d or egged! *not that I've ever participated in anything like that* This has always been one of my favorite Holidays. I guess my favorite part of it is seeing all the different costumes that people come up with. And candy! LOTS. AND. LOTS. OF. CANDY! Give me a reeses peanut butter cup and I'm happy for a long time! We're actually pretty lucky. We live in a small, safe town. The whole town gets together on the square and sets up boothes to distribute candy to all the little ghosts and goblins. I hope you all have a wonderful, safe, happy Halloween :)

did you know...

Monday, October 30, 2006
Hey, you guys see my last post? That's my brats in their halloween costumes! Actually those arent the costumes that they were supposed to wear, they have big fluffy princess dresses, but when they saw the ones they're wearing in the pictures they wanted them. It's okay with me, my girls are a tad bit clumsy and they trip easily over their own feet, so I guess it wont hurt to wear short costumes rather than long ones! So anyway...Maybe some of you could vote for them to win Kailani's Costume Contest? HMM? Gosh thats a good idea LOL

Did you know, Avon has Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses DVD for $14.99, and Curious George DVD for $16.99? I think I'm going to have to order those for the girls.

I read a lot of magazines. My favorites are Family Circle, Woman's Day and Woman's World. I get so many helpful tips, interesting facts, and great recipes! So I'm going to share a couple of my favorite Halloween ideas.

Decadent treat
Spear apples on gnarly, well-scrubbed twigs, then dip them into the deepest, darkest melted chocolate you can find!

Set frightfully festive tables!
Spread black netting over a paper or plastic orange tablecloth, then scatter with crumpled autumn leaves or "grave dirt"-crushed chocolate cookie crumbs!

Host a mask-erade!
Tape glowsticks behind the eyeholes of plastic masks, then hang them on trees, gates or your door for a "spirited" welcoming committee!

3:53 a.m.
I'm bored. I'm at work, nothing going on. No good emails to read. It's nights like this that get to me! I do have a roaring fire in our lobby though, I love watching it :) I'm also reading a good book. "Summer Light" by Luanne Rice. I'm getting too sleepy to read though. I'm wondering how I can bring more traffic to my blog. I have a couple of readers that visit all the time *hugs to them*, but I sometimes wonder if my posts are boring? I read other blogs and I'm like WOW, why can't I be that creative? Sooner or later I need to invest in a digital camera so I can post more pictures. I'd like to be able to participate in things like Kailani's Costume Contest. Oh well, I still really enjoy reading my favorite blogs. I wish I could be online more in the daytime instead of just during vampire hours! LOL Well, I think I'll go fix me some hot chocolate and sit by the fire for a little while. Ya'll have a good night :) *hugs*

I found this at one of the many blogs I was cruising through and I thought it was worth posting about. I guess we dont realize how many children are unknowingly taken advantage of. I would be horrified if someone abused my little girls. So, if you could take 2 minutes to click the link and light the candle, maybe this petition will reach it's goal and help remove innocent, abused children from the internet.

The innocent victims of Internet child abuse cannot speak for themselves. But you can. With your help, we can eradicate this evil trade. We do not need your money. We need you to light a candle of support <http://www.lightamillioncandles.com/>. We're aiming to light at least One Million Candles by December 31, 2006. This petition will be used to encourage governments, politicians, financial institutions, payment organisations, Internet service providers, technology companies and law enforcement agencies to eradicate the commercial viability of online child abuse. They have the power to work together. You have the power to get them to take action. Please light your candle at lightamillioncandles.com <http://www.lightamillioncandles.com/> or send an email of support to light@lightamillioncandles.com. Together, we can destroy the commercial viability of Internet child abuse sites that are destroying the lives of innocent children. Kindly forward this email to your friends, relatives and work colleagues so that they can light a candle too.

FRIDAY FEAST

Friday, October 27, 2006
We took the girls trick-or-treating at the local college tonight. They definetely earned their candy!! We had to walk up and down stairs, lots of them. Poor things were so tired by the time we hit the car they were out like a light! We're going to a corn maze tomorrow, complete with hayride, corn maze, corn cannon, petting zoo and freezing temperatures! It will be fun though, this is becoming a family tradition for us. I just wish I didnt have to come right to work afterwards! I'll be pretty wore out, but it'll be worth it :) Tuesday night is the big trick-or-treating night though, the girls cannot wait! Shelby is going as Snow-White and Shaleena is going as Sleeping Beauty. I wish I could post pictures, they were so adorable tonight. They had the wigs and everything! Well, *hugs* to all, have a great night :)

HALLOWEEN MEME

Thursday, October 26, 2006
Ninny Ninny Boo Boo I found a Halloween Meme! LOL Ya'll know me and the meme's, we get along real well so here goes!

Halloween Meme
I'm borrowing this from Whiskey Talking , I really hope he doesnt mind :)

1 –What was the scariest movie you have ever seen?
Probably the Hellraiser Movies. I've NEVER been able to watch one all the way through, with somebody OR by myself. I love scary movies, but I cannot handle that one!

2- What was your favorite Halloween costume as a child?
One year my Grandma made me a cave-woman costume. I had the little dress, it was made from animal print fabric. She attached a doggy bone shaped doggy treat to a ponytail holder and made me look like pebbles from the Flintstones. I specifically remember that I was in elementary school :)

3- Given enough money what would be your fantasy Halloween costume?
I would love to dress up as a true "Southern Belle" complete with the hoop dress and corsets...

4- When was the last time you went trick or treating?
I dont think I can remember a year that I havent been trick-or-treating! For the past 3 years, I've been taking my girls. For a few years before that I was taking my neices and nephews. Oh wait, the year I was pregnant, I went with my nephew, but I had a trick or treat bag too bwahahaha I mean, come on, who was going to deny the obviously VERY pregnant girl some candy?

5- What is your favorite Halloween candy?
Whoppers. Hands down!

6- Tell us about a scary nightmare you once had?
Recently I had a dream that my house was flooding (very deep water) and I was trying to rescue my girls but I couldnt seem to reach them. That was not scary, it was terrifying!

7 –What is your supernatural fear?
I dont particularly like the dark. I dont know why. I'm very claustrophobic and I have panic attacks if I cannot see my surroundings.

8- What is your ‘creepy-crawlie’ fear?
*shivers* Spiders.

9- Tell us a time you saw a ghost or heard something go bump in the night?
Umm...I live in a VERY old house and I'm constantly seeing things walk by in my peripheral vision and hearing things in the middle of the night. I swear, I've seen people from the corner of my eye, in my house, when no one was supposed to be there, in broad daylight. It's freaky, but it doesnt scare me for some reason.

10- Would you stay overnight in a real Haunted House?
Let me ponder this. NO! You couldnt pay me to spend the night in a house if I was convinced that it was haunted. Thanks anyway!

11-Are you a traditionalist or a creative carver of you Jack-o-Lantern?
I'm always making crazy looking jack-o-lanterns! Definetely not a traditionalist!

12- How much do you decorate the house at Halloween?
I've got spider webs (fake, of course) on the window of my front door. I've got purple and orange halloween lights strung across my porch, along with our jack-o-lantern. And we've got a homemade scarecrow that is currently wearing my husbands overalls LOL

13- What do you want on your Tombstone?
Here Lies Samantha Jane. Beloved Wife and Mother. She Will Be Missed. July 6, 1981-sometime way far off in the future.

I would like to tag:
Kailani
Tonya
And YOU!

Thirteen Things That Drive Me Crazy!

1. Having to come into work 3 hours early just because someone else wanted to act sick :( *I know they were acting, they admitted to as much!*

2. Head Lice! *Thank Goodness we eliminated the problem and the girls were able to return to school today :)*

3. McDonald's. *All I wanted was a stinking McChicken sandwich and they couldnt even get that right!*

4. Blogger. *I didnt think I was going to be able to load blogger tonight, I couldnt even load my blog :(*

5. Crowded places and fidgety little girls! *Everyone elses kids do not bother me, but when I have to take the girls somewhere and they decide to bounce off the walls, that's hard to handle. Especially if I'm by myself!*

6. Dumb Idiots who hurt their children :( *There was a man on the news that took a pair of scissors and circumsized his 2 year old daughter. Who could be that terrible? And how the devil do you circumsize a girl? I have really strong opinions on what should be done to this man for punishment ...*

7. Spam. *I get at least 10 spam emails every 15 minutes!*

8. Being sleepy and not being able to go to sleep. *I'm not allowed to doze at work, but my eyes get droopy and I get so oooooo tired!*

9. Training new people for a job. *I shouldnt be so general about that...it's only certain new people that are so hard to train!*

10. Craving a certain food when I'm at work (at night) and having no way to get it! *I wish I could get my hands on a big chef salad!*

11. Perverted construction workers. *I understand that they may be lonely when they come to stay at this hotel from out of town. I understand that they would like companionship. I do not understand how they miss the diamond on my left hand ring finger, not to mention the gold band!*

12. Perverted Old Men. *Enough said*

13. People who want to argue over a rate that I.CANNOT.CHANGE! *I had a man come in a while ago and ask what the rate was. I said $119.00, he said, thats too much, so I offered the AAA discount which would have brought it down to $107.10. He looked at me and he said "I'm not paying more than $75/night!" And I looked right back at him and said "I'm sorry, there's no way I can go that low" so he proceeded to tell me that he was calling the Ramada people and that I was going to be reported...etc... I was like, okay mister, you go ahead, they're not going to go that low on a rate either! SO HA!*

where do babies come from?

I was listening in on my girls today, while they were in their playroom. I heard Shelby ask Shaleena, "How do you make a baby?" First of all, couldnt that question have come a little later in life? Sheesh! Well, imagine my surprise when Shaleena answered her with, "Mommies have babies at Christmas." LOL! I guess that she thought that since their birthday is that close to Christmas, that all mommies are blessed with that special gift :) Well, that seemed to satisfy Shelby for now! My Shaleena is the smaller of my girls, and the younger by 30 seconds, but she is definetely the more motherly one. Anytime Shelby gets in trouble, or is upset about something, she runs to Shaleena! And it never fails, Shaleena always makes Shelby feel better :) Somedays I get so frustrated and overwhelmed by the girls. But it's moments like these that make me realize what a blessing our children are. They've both gotten into the habit of blowing me kisses while I'm driving, and saying "now you're lucky mommy!" Or telling me "I love you bester mommy!" That just makes my heart swell with love :)

how many of me?

HowManyOfMe.com
LogoThere are:
71
people with my name
in the U.S.A.

How many have your name?
Well, I'm glad to know that there are not too many of us with my name :)

what sam needs...

I found this meme over at being Mom2Amara, who found it at Double Duty, so I'm gonna borrow it because it looks like fun!

You go over to Google and type in your first name and then the word "needs" and run a search. Then report 10 sentences that start with "Blank needs" right here on your blog post."

1. "samantha needs adoptive parents who are willing to meet her needs for structure"
Hmm...Okay!

2. Samantha needs prayers and financial support.
Yah. Doesnt everyone?

3. Samantha needs to have an area set aside for her to rest when necessary.
Hallelujah!!

4. Samantha needs frequent transfusions.
lmao!!

5. Samantha needs to cut the puppet strings that bind her in order to truly find herself.
Boy, Samantha sure does need a lot, bwahaha

6. Samantha needs to have access to an air-conditioned environment.
Thats right baby, because Samantha is HOT!

7. Samantha needs 4.8 oz. food and 19.20 oz. water per day.
Somebody better let THIS Samantha eat and drink more than THAT!

8. Samantha needs electricity to make her alarm clock, desk lamp, and television work.
Among other things!

9. Samantha needs another vacation to the loony bin.
Is it me, or should I change my name?

10. Samantha needs to paint a rectangular wall that is 10 feet by 20 feet.
Hmm..thats why THIS Samantha married a professional painter!!

Girls Gone Child

Ya'll have got to go visit Girls Gone Child! I happened upon her blog and I've been enthralled with every entry! Especially this one about an odd name she called her son in public! You will fall over laughing, I promise! I just had to share this, because I think everyone of you would probably enjoy it :)

venturing into unknown realms

Tuesday, October 24, 2006
I was sleeping today while the brats were in school. Nothing abnormal about that, because I work at night, I sleep in day. I'm just dreaming along when the phone rings with it's persistent, hateful, can't-get-it-to-stop, ring. I turn over, pick it up and groggily say "hello". Lo-and-behold it is the brats' teacher calling to tell me...it's a horrible, frustrating thing that no parent in her/his right mind wants to hear from their childs teacher... "We were doing our routine headlice check and we found a nit in Brat1's hair, so you need to come pick them both up. But dont worry, it's easy to take care of. And it's not because you or your children are dirty, no, lice like clean hair." EASY? WTH!! This is the first time we've had this experience, I've NEVER had to deal with this! And they're going to tell me it's easy?!? Oh yes, and of course they like clean hair. Maybe I should let my girls' hair get all yuck and greasy. Maybe then I wouldnt have to feel like I've invited a nasty little ugly critter to live in my kids' head. And the best part of the whole situation is, I have to take them to the health department first thing in the morning so they can be cleared to go back to school. The poor kids. I got them home and called my Grandma. I didnt know which product to use, I'd never done this before. She tells me to use mayonnaise. Hmm. Smelly, greasy, but obviously a cheaper solution than the products that are made for this problem. So I slather their heads in mayonnaise, which they think is just the most hilarious thing that has ever happened to them. I bathe them, wash their heads, and sit them down to check and pick. Well, it was a long drawn out process that took just about all day, but I do believe we have the situation rectified. So, keep your fingers crossed for me when I take them to the health department in the morning. Oh, and just to clarify this, although they didnt find anything in brat2's head, she got to go through it all too!

So, I dont know if anyone has ever posted about this problem before, but lets face it. When you have children in school, it's likely to happen at one point or another. I was embarassed, frustrated, and I'll admit...ashamed. I know I've always heard that lice gravitate towards clean hair, but all I could think about was...Why MY kids?

just a bunch of stuff

Well, the holidays are about here! I dont know about anyone else, but in my family, even Halloween is a big deal. The girls are really excited this year. Of course, they are going to be transformed into beautiful Fairy Tale Princesses. But you know what? I think that 99% of the little girls I know are going to be Princesses this year LOL Shelby chose to be Snow White, complete with black wig; and Shaleena chose to be Sleeping Beauty with flowing blonde wig. We are supposed to go trick-or-treating 3 times. (*yes I said 3!*) Once on Friday night at the local college. They will be handing out candy at all the dorms, the gym, etc. On Saturday night we are supposed to go to Fun World. Fun World is our version of Chuck E. Cheese's. They are going to have a parking lot full of booths to trick-or-treat at. And then on Tuesday night, wich is actually Halloween, we will haunt the square here, and in the neighboring county wich is located in North Carolina. Gee, I wonder, is that too much? UH YAH! But hey, as long as the girls are having fun, how can we go wrong? It's not like they'll eat all that candy all at once! It usually gets seperated and put in the freezer for our enjoyment throughout the year!!! Oh yes, and on tuesday, after trick-or-treating, we are going to a Haunted Corn Maze and Hay Ride! I love that. The hot apple cider and hot dogs, the goofy masked men jumping out at us and scaring the adults while the children laugh...

Okay, It's freaking cold here! We've had a few snow flurries on and off today. Thats not so unusual for some states in October, but here? Since we moved here from Florida in 1996 I dont think I've seen ANY form of snow before mid-November. But I LOVE IT! I love snow, I love winter, I love it ALL!

I'm looking for some good Christmas Cookie recipes. My mom, my sis and I get together like the week before Christmas every year and bake cookies all day for one day. We also make candy. But, now I am looking for some new cookie recipes, I'm tired of the same old ones!

By the way you guys, I havent been getting a lot of traffic lately. I know I was gone for quite a while, but I'm back, so I wish you all would start visiting me again :)

I hope you all have a wonderful night!

Check this out!!!

Christmas Grotto Goodie Swap

Oh my goodness! I found the coolest thing while I was surfing on blogexplosion! A Christmas Swap! I happened to land at A Penny for Them... and she had participated in a Halloween Swap and recieved all kinds of cool stuff, so she decided to host one for Christmas! All you have to do is email her (mandees@gmail.com) and give her your address, website url, and of course your email address.
The idea of this is to go and spend $20-$30 on items that have to do with Christmas (remember, you probably do NOT want to buy heavy stuff, because it will cost you!) and when she matches you up with a partner, you get it to them before Christmas! You may even get partnered up with someone from another country!
So anyways, I thought this was pretty nifty and decided that I would participate. For all you other Christmas Junkies (just like me!) out there, you should come on and join the fun!!
Now, to decide what would be some good things to send...

*Oh, I almost forgot...you only have until November 1, 2006 to sign up for this!!!

Monday Memories/Reflections

Tuesday, October 17, 2006
This will also be my Monday Memory. In memory of my Mother in Law, Allene. With love...

As time goes by, so many things change. We lose loved ones, we experience tragedies and disasters of the emotional, natural, and physical kinds. I recently had to take a leave of absence because my Mother in Law passed away. A more loving, amazing woman there never was. What I didnt realize, was that when I just disappeared without telling any of my friends here, I was missed. Not only was I missed, but you worried about me. For that I apologize. But I'm back, and I'm truly thankful for each and every one of my amazing friends here! I dont have to name you, you know who you are. Thank You, for the thoughts, the prayers, Thank You from the bottom of my heart. One of the things that I've found that doesnt change is a true friend.

Well, the Holiday Season is about to begin, is everyone ready for it? I for one am not. The Holidays this year will be bittersweet with our recent loss. But, all the same, I am still looking forward to them! My girls and I decorated the front porch for Halloween, complete with skeletons, spiderwebs and our very own ScareCrow that the girls have dubbed "BoBo." Please dont ask where BoBo came from, because I have NO idea!

Shelby came to me the other day, from their playroom and said to me, "Mommy, Chuckie wont give me my babydoll back." I was like, Uh, who's Chuckie? And she comes back with, "thats my boyfriend, he lives with his mommy in an apple tree." My almost 4 year old little girl has already got an imaginary friend! And to beat all, she doesnt like to share her toys with him! LOL

Shaleena decided to paint her nails with a Sharpie Permanent Marker. That was cute *dripping sarcasm*. She goes back to school tomorrow and guess what? It looks like she has smashed each and every one of her fingernails with a sledgehammer. She hasnt invented an imaginary friend yet. For twins, my girls sure arent much alike!

Well, I'm going to close this for now. I'm here to stay, assuming everything goes well. Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers, you guys!
*hugs*

I'M BACK!!

Monday, October 16, 2006
Hi everyone! I know it's been quite a while since my last post. We had a tragedy in my family :( My MIL passed away, it was so unexpected. I didnt have a chance to post and tell everyone that I had to take a leave of absense. I missed you all SO much! I'm back now, we're still having a rough time dealing with things right now, but, well, we'll deal, right? So I'm going to try to make my rounds and visit everyone. Goodnight :)
